About Chenehee Tea Farm

Chenehi tea farm is named after my mother’s name”

Dhiren Phukan, Owner, Chenehee Tea farm

Chenehi tea farm was established in 1990 at Tingkhong, Dibrugarh. The tea farm was started on the land of 2 bighas and now the tea farm covered 13 bighas of land.

Initially, I used chemicals for better production of tea. Still, gradually I found adverse effects in many gardens like degradation of soil quality and negative impact on human health due to consuming chemically produced tea. Therefore, I participated in many workshops to learn about natural tea production and made my farm 100% natural. later with innovations, we made handmade natural orthodox tea. and get success in the international market. After that, I am giving training to many of my fellow tea farmers and motivate them to adopt natural farming. SEWA, an NGO from Dibrugarh, and NABARD also come to promote natural tea farming among farmers.

About us

At Chenehi Tea Farm, we, the hardcore tea lovers from Assam have been producing 100% natural handmade tea since 1990. we grow three varieties of tea- Oolong tea, Green tea with silver tips, and Black tea with golden tips. Our high-quality tea blends with the most sensational flavors and aromas offer a tastier and fresher solution.

Natural tea farming and its farming process

Natural tea farming practices prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem balance. By avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, natural tea farming reduces soil and water pollution, preserves beneficial insects and wildlife, and promotes long-term environmental sustainability. This helps to maintain the food chain of our ecology. A good practice of natural tea farming helps to breeding those organisms, which are important for farm production. Instead of synthetic pesticides, natural tea farmers employ various methods to control pests and diseases, such as companion planting, beneficial insects, and cultural practices like crop rotation. Overall, natural tea farming aims to produce high-quality tea while minimizing environmental impact and promoting biodiversity and sustainability in tea cultivation.

Natural tea farming involves cultivating tea plants using organic and sustainable methods, without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, etc. This helps to maintain quality and quantity of tea production. After plucking the quality leaf; it boils and hand rolls. We dry the rolled leaf in our processing machine to sustain the aroma. We have a small processing unit and a little hard-working labor family for that. We use simple and quality packets to preserve the made tea. We have FSSAI certification (LIC no. 10320016111147) and tested our tea 100% chemical-free. I hope you will choose our tea and help us to rise and shine.

Collaboration for promoting natural farming
We express our sincere gratitude to NABARD for assigning Chenehi Tea Farm the task of providing assistance to one hundred small tea growers through the “Natural Farming and Handmade Tea for Small Tea Growers” Project. This project has been carried out by the Socio Educational Welfare Association (SEWA) Dibrgaurh with the aim of developing one hundred small tea growers. With the project’s assistance, we collectivise one hundred small tea growers from the Dibrugarh District’s Tingkhong Block and offered value chain upgrading assistance as well as hand-holding guidance to enable small tea farmers to use natural farming practices.
In our role as project Resource Person, the Chenehi Tea Farm created an opportunity for small tea growers to produce made tea and opened up new markets for them. With the project’s support, Chenehi Tea Farm was able to launch this website in hopes of a better market avenue for natural farmers in Tingkhong Block. Also with project support, the Sri Dhren Phukan has authored a handbook for tea farmers on natural farming in the Assamese language.
