Chenehi tea farm was established in 1990 at Tingkhong, Dibrugarh. The tea farm was started on the land of 2 bighas and now the tea farm covered 13 bighas of land.

Initially, I used chemicals for better production of tea. Still, gradually I found adverse effects in many gardens like degradation of soil quality and negative impact on human health due to consuming chemically produced tea. Therefore, I participated in many workshops to learn about natural tea production and made my farm 100% natural. later with innovations, we made handmade natural orthodox tea. and get success in the international market. After that, I am giving training to many of my fellow tea farmers and motivate them to adopt natural farming. SEWA, an NGO from Dibrugarh, and NABARD also come to promote natural tea farming among farmers.

‘Chenehee’ is made by Mr Dhiren Phukan, a small tea grower and a well-known natural tea farmer. It is a 100% natural tea brand. Mr. Phukan set up his production unit in his house—the brand sells Oolong tea, handmade Green tea, and black tea. The farm family has 10 members for plucking, rolling, drying, and packaging. The farm has a little dry unit where they process the tea leaves. Packaging is also done within the farm to take care of complete hygiene. The farm covers almost 13 bighas of land for tea garden where we produce tea in a 100% natural way. We sell our tea to many foreign countries along with many states of India. The customer’s positive feedback encourages us to stay consistent in natural farming and spread awareness of natural farming among our fellow farmers.
